Top Ten Books I've Read So Far In 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely ladies over at The Broke and the Bookish

THIS WEEK'S PROMPT IS TOP TEN BOOKS I'VE READ SO FAR IN 2013

1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
I know that Anna and the French Kiss has made like every Top Ten list I've done in the past while, but hear me out. I was really late to the party with this one; I just read it this year and I'm head over heels in love with this book. I'm pretty much forcing everybody I know to read it.

2. Easy by Tammara Webber
I loved how Webber dealt with issues of sexual assault. A very difficult subject was dealt with head on and I just felt like overall, it was realistic. I just really appreciate Webber's writing and think this is what all new adult books should strive to be.

3. What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen
Dessen has this knack for capturing what it's like to be a teenager, combining the major crises with the small. Plus I just love her characterizations and the romance. The romance in this one was just so sweet. She writes characters that I like and feel for.

4. Golden by Jessi Kirbi
How was this the first Jesse Kirbi book I've read? Why did it take me so long? I loved loved loved this book. Kirbi blends a mystery with a coming of age story and it just all worked so well.

5. Russian Winter by Daphne Kalotay
This is the only adult novel on the list and it totally deserves to be here. The writing is beautiful and Kalotay broke my heart by the end of it.

6. Just One Day by Gayle Foreman
Foreman combines travel, romance and a college freshman figuring out who she is so well. First off, Paris. I cannot resist a book that includes Paris. I also appreciated Allyson's growth throughout the novel. Fantastic novel overall.

7. Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff
Paper Valentine was fairly dark and combines elements of the paranormal along with contemporary. It was a super eerie read that I'm kind of looking forward to re-reading this summer. Yovanoff creates such a creepy summer setting for ghosts and murder in the typical suburban town.

8. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
Smith's books are just so cute and I love a cute book every once in awhile.

9. Being Henry David by Cal Armistead
I love that Being Henry David features a male protagonist. Also, it was just a little different than the books I normally read. For one, he has no idea who he is or how he got where he is. He spends most of the book trying to figure it out. Plus, it includes so many literary references.

10. Escape Theory by Margaux Froley
Escape Theory wasn't the perfect novel, but I loved the boarding school setting and the mystery. I also really loved the protagonist and how much she cared about her peers despite being a bit of an outsider. Basically I just kind of love a little mystery thrown in with a good contemporary.

  3. I read Just One Day and The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight because I'm challenging myself to read one YA Romance book a month, and enjoyed both of these immensely. Happy reading. :-)

  4. I love Anna! I have seen Golden on a few lists already, I think I will have to check it out. I am also adding Being Henry David to my TBR. I am a big fan of a male protagonist and have a couple on my own list. http://wp.me/pzUn5-1yN

  5. You sound just like me with Anna. I have read it 5 times, have forced on everyone and have been challenged to get it onto all of my TTT lists until fall. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that book and I'm so happy to hear there is some one as obsessed as me. I even "dressed" Anna in a blog post. HA! Great list!
